slip mount
A slip mount describes the technique whereby the print is surrounded by a window mount of conservation standard mount board, the edge of which is adorned with a frame of "slip moulding" which, when the picture is framed, creates a frame-within-a-frame effect.
The method has been in use for centuries and has been updated for modern tastes.
